Good Things are Happening!!!!

Hello all!!! Thought I would post an update on the things that are happening here in my neck of the woods.

About a week ago Maxie went and signed the papers that bought us an acre and a half of land near the Kisatchie Forest. We are so excited about this, there are 9 other couples that also bought into a 10 acre piece and we are getting ready to start clearing the land to put in a horse camp. We will have a pavillion and everything out there. Last week we found a camper and purchased it cash. We only paid 4500.00 for it and it is a really awesome camper!!!! It’s a 88 model but was kept under a shed and was the elite camper of it’s time. All of the cabnets are solid wood and the floors are oak. It has tons of closets and storage and the pantry pulls out with shelves in it. It’s a 35′ 5th wheel and is going to be so perfect for our camp!!!! I have been cleaning it and getting it ready since we pulled it home, it’s going to be great :)

On another note, I am going to be getting married :) I am so excited!!!! We set the date for April 10th. That is my son that died (Perry’s) birthday. It will give me something nice to look forward to on that day again and I believe he would be delighted that I am marrying such a wonderful man on that day. We will have an outdoor wedding at his mom’s house. They live on a lake and it’s surrounded by water. Very pretty out there.

Ok I have to take Gelly to school and go clean a house so I’m outta here…

Another Day on the Ranch

Well yesterday we took Gelly to the zoo. She had a blast walking around looking at all the animals and walking with her man Maxie LOL… They get along so great and she loves him to pieces.

She is doing great in school so far and is making straight A’s in conduct. I am so proud of her for being so brave and being such a good girl. Her new school is a little country school and there are only 12 kids in her class. She has a new friend Dusty who lives right down the road from us and is in her class so after school they both rush in to get their homework done so they can play with each other afterwards.

Looks like I may be leaving to work the hurricane relief with Maxie. I am really hoping I get to go. They asked for me but I started a business and I am cleaning houses and a bank now. The bank is the one I am worried about the most but since the bank president there is our best friend, he will probably work with us so I can go :) I just want to continue with it when I get back home!!!!

Our big job here was the other night, cleaning goat poop out of 2 stalls in the barn *bleck*. I got the easy part thank goodness, I drove the tractor and dumped it onto the dung hill LOL… Maxie and my son Paul did the hard stuff BUT the SMELL ooooooooohweeeeeeeeeeeee, it WAS NOT pleasant LOL…

Other then that it’s been quiet here and everyone is doing great!!!! Don’t have much else to blog right now and I do need to get some cleaning done in this house… Fun fun, never ends!!!!

What’s been happening

Well it’s been some time since I was able to post here and a lot has happened on the ranch since my first post.

The saddest thing that happened was my beautiful horse Rebel became ill. We took him to the vet and they were unsure what was wrong with him. For weeks he just seemed to go down hill and was looking worse and worse. They ran test after test trying to figure out what was wrong with him and still was unable to tell. My horse swelled up so bad on his front end that it looked like he was just going to burst wide open. his front legs were so swollen you couldn’t even see where his knee’s were anymore. He could hardly walk and on a few occasions fell to his knees. My poor baby :( Finally we took him to LSU’s animal clinic and they confirmed our worst fear. My horse had cancer… We had to put him down at the end of June. We were totally heartbroken and replacing him is going to be so hard. He was such a wonderful animal… *sigh*… After he passed they did an autopsy on him and found a tumor in him the size of a vollyball. The people at LSU were so sweet though, they took such good care of him and cremated him for us. They put his remains in a little treasure chest style box and they all signed a card to send with it and mailed it all to me. So now Rebel is on our mantle in the living room along with clippings of his mane and tail. It’s all I have left of such a beautiful horse :(

There is more to tell but I don’t really have much time to post it now but I will try and keep my blog updated more often.

I’m going to go get ready because today we are going to take Gelly to the zoo!!!! She is so excited and ready to go!!!!!

Talk to ya’ll later,
Mardell
